The Story Behind Shooter Floats

Shooter Floats is a Wisconsin-founded fishing float company dedicated to creating high-quality balsa wood, EVA, and other premium fishing floats for anglers targeting all species.

The company originated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where we began building floats specifically for steelhead and salmon fishing throughout the Great Lakes. Our floats were originally created for guides and anglers who spend every day on the water and needed a product that was extremely durable, highly visible, affordable, and reliable enough to be used day after day.

The owner and founder, Seth Krause, is a young fisherman who grew up spending as much time as possible on the riverbanks. After school, you could often find him fishing the rivers, learning the water, experimenting with different setups, and figuring out what worked and what didn't. Through years of fishing, he saw the need for a float that could handle the abuse of everyday fishing while still being affordable and effective for the average angler.

Seth wanted to create something that wasn't just a float, but a product that everyone on the river could use and trust. From the beginning, the vision for Shooter Floats was to build a company around the water and the fishing community — creating floats that were effective, durable, and proven to catch fish, while making them accessible to as many anglers as possible.

What started with building floats for local Great Lakes salmon and steelhead anglers has grown into a brand built around a passion for fishing, quality craftsmanship, and community. Shooter Floats is committed to continuing to develop fishing floats that anglers can depend on, whether they're chasing salmon and steelhead on the Great Lakes or targeting other species across the country.

At the end of the day, Shooter Floats was built for one reason: to create a better fishing experience and bring anglers together around the water, one bobber down at a time.
